Fourteen campus journalists from Bulacan Ecumenical School were sent to Marcelo H. Del Pilar National High School to participate in the in-person return of the Division Schools Press Conference last May 3.
This marks the first time the Schools Division Office in Malolos will be holding the conference in person in 3 years.
The press conference opened its contests Wednesday with schools in Malolos participating.
Two teams from the school competed in the Online Desktop Publishing contest for both English and Filipino; the English team bagging second place while the Filipino team won third.
When asked about her experience, Irishgaile Cutiongco said that she was “happy to work” with her team and that she enjoyed being mentored by one of the coaches, Sarah Caburnida.
“I was motivated to do my best even if the training was limited,” Cutiongco said in Filipino.
Monika Kaye Agustin, a coach for the conference, said that it was “a great opportunity for students [...] because it provides an avenue to cater their God-given talent.”
“Though we have a very limited training time, it still provides opportunities for our students to experience that kind of activity that was taken from them for a couple years,” Agustin adds.
Agustin hopes that for the next competition, the press conference will clarify the guidelines and specify which applications will be used so that “the students are preparing on a common ground.”
“But I am grateful to see the smiles of the students as they prepare [...] just as simply as being able to participate, that is rewarding,” Agustin noted.
Students from the secondary level were also sent to participate in the individual categories.
