Mr. Robert Capino, well-beloved Mathematics teacher and Bulacan Ecumenical School’s longtime Senior High School focal person, passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2024 at the age of 40 years old.
Mr. Capino was born on Dec. 10, 1983 in Malinao, Albay. Together with members of his family, he moved to Malolos, Bulacan, where he studied college at the University of Regina Carmeli, what’s now known as La Consolacion University Philippines. He graduated in 2005 with a Bachelor in Secondary Education, majoring in Mathematics.
He joined BES in 2006 as a Mathematics teacher, where he remained with the school for more than 17 years. Soon, upon the creation of the Senior High School department, he became its focal person in addition to serving as the school’s Mathematics coordinator. “The Father of Senior High", they called him.
His infectious enthusiasm and unwavering passion for teaching left a legacy of inspiration uplifting those around him. His cheerful demeanor made every class enjoyable and remarkable, and his love for his students made every memory a joyful one.
“Having you as my adviser at that time changed a lot of things for me. I felt heard. I felt that I belonged. I felt empowered,” a former student said.
His colleagues described his ability to handle and organize people as otherworldly. He cared for children and the people around him. His charismatic presence was beyond words. His quips and funny lines were well-known. "Simple instruction you cannot follow, how can you graduation," he once said.
Outside of school, he sought thrills and adventures. An avid enjoyer of nature and waterfalls, he was there wherever the water leads. He made an effort to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.
Even through his final moments, his faith never dimmed. He continued to pray for strength and courage through the toughest of times, and he fought with the support of the community who loved him very much.
He is preceded in death by his father Jesus Sr. He is survived by his mother Rhodora, his sisters and brothers Helen, Lyn, Henry, Jesus Jr., Francis, Ailyn, Jessica, Jessie, and Anna, his nieces and nephews, his cousins and his many many friends.
A wake will be held in his memory at 309 Lucero St. Brgy. Mabolo, Malolos, Bulacan, in front of the Barangay Mabolo Chapel.
Thank you Sir Capino!
